Auto Electrical, Dual Battery & 12V Fit-Outs Sunshine Coast

The Ute Shop designs and installs practical 12V systems for touring 4WDs, trade utes, canopies and tow vehicles. From a simple auxiliary battery to an integrated lithium, solar and inverter setup, our Warana workshop can build around the appliances, charging sources and runtime you actually need. Start with an energy plan A reliable system begins with expected loads: fridge, lighting, communications, pumps, tools, charging outlets and inverter appliances. Battery chemistry and capacity should be chosen from realistic consumption, desired off-grid time, charge opportunities, available space, weight and budget.

Dual-battery and lithium systems

Modern vehicles often require a suitable DC-DC charger rather than a basic isolator. Lithium batteries can provide high usable capacity at relatively low weight, but need compatible charging, protection and temperature considerations. AGM remains suitable for some applications. The correct design depends on the vehicle and equipment.

Solar, 240V charging and inverters

Solar can extend off-grid runtime when panel size, regulator and sun exposure suit the load. A 240V charger can restore the system at home or on powered sites. Inverters supply mains-style power, but high-wattage appliances create significant current draw and require carefully sized batteries, cables, fuses and ventilation.

Safe, serviceable installation

Cable size, voltage drop, circuit protection, mounting, isolation, heat and water exposure all matter. Fuses should protect cables close to their power source, wiring should be supported against abrasion and major components should remain accessible for inspection and service.

Integrated canopy and work-ute fit-outs

We can coordinate batteries, REDARC, Enerdrive or Victron charging equipment, solar input, inverters, fridge circuits, work lights, USB and accessory outlets, switches and monitoring. Planning this alongside the tray or canopy helps create a cleaner layout and avoids obstructing storage.

Other auto-electrical accessories

Workshop installations can also include electric brake controllers, trailer wiring, driving lights, light bars, UHF radios, antennas and other compatible 12V accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size auxiliary battery do I need?+
It depends on daily energy use, desired runtime, charging capacity and available space. List each appliance and typical hours of use before choosing capacity.
Is lithium better than AGM?+
Lithium offers high usable capacity and lower weight but requires compatible equipment and protection. AGM can remain a practical option for simpler or lower-cost systems.
Can solar keep my fridge running indefinitely?+
Not guaranteed. Solar output varies with weather, shade, panel angle and season. The system should be designed around realistic generation and consumption.
What size inverter should I install?+
Base it on the continuous and surge demand of the intended appliances, then confirm the battery and wiring can safely supply that current.
Can you install electrics inside my canopy?+
Yes, subject to the canopy design. It is best to plan storage, ventilation, component access and weight distribution together.
