Triple M Steel Ute Trays Sunshine Coast
The Triple M steel ute tray is a durable work body with galvanised and zinc plated hardware, practical load restraint features and a choice of two steel deck surfaces. The Ute Shop can confirm the correct tray dimensions and vehicle fitment, organise suitable accessories and professionally install the tray at our Warana workshop on the Sunshine Coast.
Tray size, deck finish, paint colour, headboard, rear rack, steps, toolboxes and water tank options must be selected for the vehicle and intended use. Product appearance and fitment can vary between makes, models and cab configurations.
Main benefits of the Triple M steel tray
- Steel construction provides a strong and practical platform for work vehicles
- Galvanised and zinc plated hardware helps protect underlying surfaces if paint is breached
- Integrated Quick Lock hinge removes the need for a separate retaining pin or E clip
- Internal restraint points secure loads below the height of the dropsides
- Quick Hitch rope rails allow a rope to pass through the rail once for faster securing
- Choose a 3 mm checker plate floor or 3 mm galvanised flat floor
- Paint can be colour matched to the vehicle when selected at the time of order
Quick Lock hinge design
Traditional dropside hinges often use a separate retaining pin or E clip. Triple M integrates this retention feature into the Quick Lock hinge so there is no separate clip to lose. The hinge uses a high strength automotive grade polymer and a stainless steel pivot pin. Its rounded exterior surfaces are designed to reduce exposed sharp edges.
Steel deck and paint protection
Triple M uses galvanised and zinc plated hardware to improve corrosion protection beneath the painted finish. An etch primer is applied to promote adhesion before the colour and clear coats. A colour matched painted finish can be selected when the tray is ordered. Normal care is still required, especially after chips, scratches or exposure to corrosive environments.
Load restraint points and Quick Hitch rope rails
The tray provides practical options for securing loads above and below the dropside height. The actual load must remain within the vehicle payload, axle ratings and the capacity of every strap, rope and attachment point used. Confirm the applicable ratings for the exact tray before use.
Internal load restraint points
- Allow short loads to be restrained without routing straps over the dropsides
- Help apply downward restraint directly to the load
- Available only on some tray models and must be confirmed for the application
Quick Hitch rope rails
- Allow the rope to pass through the centre of the rail once
- Designed to reduce the time required to secure common tray loads
- Use only within the stated ratings for the tray and load restraint equipment
Steel tray deck options
Triple M offers two 3 mm steel floor options. Tray dimensions and the correct mounting package are vehicle specific and should be confirmed for the make, model, cab style, wheelbase and intended load.
| DECK OPTION | CONSTRUCTION | SUITED TO |
|---|---|---|
| Checker plate floor | 3 mm checker plate steel | Work use where a raised tread surface is preferred |
| Galvanised flat floor | 3 mm galvanised flat steel | Work use where a smoother deck surface is preferred |

Underbody drawer options
The Triple M underbody drawer is designed for compatible QuickLock aluminium and steel bodies and is made from heavy duty galvanised steel. Triple M states a load capacity of up to 100 kg, three available sizes and a four stage incremental locking system that can hold the drawer open. Other features include a brushed 304 stainless steel fascia, lockable paddle handle, two point slam latch and heavy duty roller system. Confirm dimensions and vehicle clearance before ordering.
Headboards, rear racks, steps and protection
The 63 mm tube headboard includes a window protector, while the 40 by 40 mm bow headboard uses integrated welded mesh. Rear racks are removable and available in matching square or round tube styles. Triple M states a maximum 150 kg combined load between the headboard and rear rack. Step choices include 63 mm angled and square stirrups for the tube headboard and a corner step for the bow headboard. A dropside support kit and tail light and wiring guard can add protection around the working tray.
PP mudguards
Triple M forms the mudguards from rubber modified automotive grade polypropylene. The material is designed to recover its moulded shape after deformation, retain impact strength in low temperatures and resist corrosion from stone chipping.

Tray weight payload and legal limits
A steel tray is selected for strength and work use, but its fitted weight must be included in every payload calculation. Available payload equals the vehicle GVM minus its actual operating weight after the tray, accessories, occupants, fuel and other equipment are fitted. Axle ratings and towball download can also become the limiting factor.
We recommend weighing the completed vehicle when payload is important. A steel tray installation does not increase the vehicle GVM unless it forms part of a separately approved and certified GVM upgrade.
Triple M warranty
Triple M currently states a limited warranty of three years or 100000 km, whichever occurs first, against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The warranty contains conditions and exclusions, including overloading, environmental damage, misuse and unauthorised modification. Confirm the current warranty statement at the time of sale. Australian Consumer Law rights also apply.
